Unreal Engine 4 Makes Doom Very, Uh, Angular

Late last week, captain_slow48 posted an Unreal Engine 4 recreation of Doom's first level online. "I built this to familiarise myself with the engine," he said, adding that he tried to be "as faithful to the original aesthetic as possible." Which is exactly what happened.

In the relevant thread on the Unreal Engine forums, another user commented that some elements of the map, like the room with the acid pool, were fine in the original Doom engine but look out-of-place in UE4:

Which is a fair point. Still, the recreation is very faithful and I'd say it looks pretty good for a learning project. Besides, it's not like we're overflowing with 3D Doom fanart.

Here are the rest of the shots. Angular or not, they're still cool:

That's pretty awesome. Honestly, the colours and aesthetic make it more appealing than the reboot coming out in May to me lol

It makes me sad that id Software hasn't re-created the original Doom games in their latest id tech game engines, I would buy the latest Doom game just to play the original in an up to date game engine

would love the original Doom and Doom 2 to be rereleased with an updated graphics engine, keep the gameplay the same, and the sounds :)
