Jason reported on the weekend that Final Fantasy XV was getting bumped back to November. And not to be the bearer of bad news, but that’s precisely what Square Enix has confirmed.
In a statement, Square says the new release date is November 29. “From the moment we joined this project, our vision was to create a level of freedom and realism previously unseen in the series,” game director Hajime Tabata said.
“Regrettably, we need a little bit more time to deliver on this vision and are confident that this new release date will help us achieve this … as the director and lead of this project, I wish to personally apologize for the additional wait. As a team, we want Final Fantasy XV to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.”
November 29 appears to be a global release as well, according to an updated listing on JB Hi-Fi’s website.

The Last Guardian delay incoming…
Dear Alex Walker,
How dare you write an article about the FFXV being delayed. I am sending you this death threat to teach you a lesson. Don’t start your car tomorrow if you want to live.
Love,
Shithead.
(for those who aren’t sure what’s going on)
There’s still every chance that Shithead isn’t in on the joke.
I don’t wanna send death threats… can I stand in the corner and stare very grumpily instead?

*chuckles*
Their vision I bet didn’t foresee the ridiculous ten year cycle. The only way I’d swallow the whole FFXV pill is if they told me at the end of it they either fired Nomura or put him back behind character design where he belongs.
Completely unsurprising, the demos were technical nightmares with sucky frame rates and below average gameplay, this game needs the polishing time.
Let’s just hope that the game only needed extra polish and it’s not them taking 3 extra months to put better makeup on a pig.
Agreed, I’ve got a funny feeling it may be a bit of a train wreck, hopefully not
HOpefully it’s good. I’m in no shortage of games to play atm so I’d rather they take a bit of extra time.
Eeergh, was hoping for any other date but the 29th… might not be home at the time 🙁
OH MY GOD. I’m cancelling my pre order , snapping all my old FF game discs and throwing them in the fire. Fuck you square enix. The party is over.
The sad thing is, based on my experiences with the internet, is I truly have no idea if this is a joke or for real.
Keep up the polish, Tabata. Get done what you need to get done!
Your ass is grass Alex. Grass. I’m gonna get you with grass & stick it up your ass. you think you can get away with this. (◞≼◉ื≽◟ ;益;◞≼◉ื≽◟) Grass…
Taken from a reddit post on the subject
– FFXV went gold the other day, and that was planned to be the version they ship on Sept 30.
– That version of the game will be playable at Gamescom, and they are cutting a 30 minute gameplay video to be released on Aug 16 showcasing the performance of that version.
– They planned a massive Day One Patch for the game which would further polish the game and fix lingering issues.
– But they have decided that instead of pressing the current gold master and delivering a day one patch, they will instead wait and use that completed version as the final gold master.
– Hence the game will be delayed to Nov 29, but they will be adding even more stuff on top of the planned fixes of the day one patch.
Warning: There are reports on the internet that this report is incorrect. Those reports are incorrect.
I’m getting Dragon Quest VII on day one now 😀
