There’s been a weird quirk about Brian Azzarello’s writing assignments for DC Comics: the less the super the hero, the more powerful his writing’s been. Best known for his decade-long crime masterpiece 100 Bullets at the publisher’s Vertigo imprint, Azzarello’s also tried his hand at in its caped crimefighter universe, too. While his grittier sensibility meshed has well with Batman, his run at Superman felt like a square peg trying to fly through a round hole.
It wouldn’t be the DC Universe, online or offline, without Princess Diana of Themyscira, and while she isn’t sporting the late-1980s short-jacket look she has in the comics, she’s still looking great for a woman in her late 60s.
Something legendary is coming to DC Universe Online, and this brief yet stunning cinematic trailer raises more questions than it answers.
Wonder Woman is the most popular super-hero no one seems to like very much. She doesn’t get movies, can barely sell a comic book. Today, she’s been given a new outfit.
The electronic comic book movement gains momentum today, as Batman and Superman publisher DC Comics finally goers digital, offering downloadable comics for the iPad, iPhone, and Sony PSP.
Less than 20 days to go before Midway unleashes Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, and I for one am ready to explode with excitement. So are Wonder Woman and Baraka in this set of new screens, showcasing three of the game’s new fighting mechanisms. Rage Mode allows the character to finally release all the rage they’ve got backed up inside them, releasing it in a torrent of ferocious attacks. Klose Kombat is like close combat, only spelled with a K instead of a C. Finally we have Freefall Kombat, or as many of the DC characters call it, flying downwards. I suppose magic is making Superman fall. Damn that magic. Just hoping I’m not too tired from suspending all this disbelief to enjoy the game. Or the gallery.
