Phil Hughes Is Your Ashes Cricket Captain

cricket-captain-picHis Test cricket career may have only just begun, but NSW and Australian batsman Phil Hughes is the face of Cricket Captain 2009 Ashes.

Australian games distributor QV Software has announced a partnership between cricket’s new sensation and the world’s leading cricket management game for PC.

Cricket Captain 2009 Ashes is the latest in the International Cricket Captain series from UK developer Childish Things. The series has sold a remarkable half-million copies in Australia alone.

QVS managing director Paul Elliot is chuffed by the signing of Hughes: “International Cricket Captain is the number one worldwide best selling cricket management series and we are delighted to associate Phillip with this game who has quickly risen to international fame.”

Hughes, our current Young Cricketer of the Year, is similarly chuffed: “Being a part of this is exciting for me, it’s new, progressive and a different way to experience the game off the field.”

As a long-time fan of football sims such as Championship Manager and latterly Football Manager, I’m keen to see how Cricket Captain shapes up when it’s released on June 25. I’m hoping there’s a real-time option where test matches really can take five whole days to play.
