A Rare ‘Sweding’ Of A Video Game

The Incident: Sweded from Greg Borenstein on Vimeo.

You’re familiar with the concept of “Sweding“? If not, it’s a “summarized recreation of popular pop-culture films using limited budgets and a camcorder,” according to experts. We don’t often see our video games “sweded.” But here’s one.

This is the sweded version of The Incident, the retro-styled iPhone game from Big Bucket Software that we reviewed last year. In case you missed it, The Incident is a game about overcoming a mountain of detritus falling from the sky, somewhat like Donkey Kong meets Katamari Damacy. Somewhat.

But The Incident sweded, even if you don’t care for it that much, should probably serve as inspiration for more sweding of video games. Not quite Mega 64, not quite fan film, but low budget films of video games recreated, in the vein of the VHS movies from Be Kind Rewind, the root of the term sweding.

Do you have any to add to the list? Would you make some for us this weekend? Thanks in advance.
