Japan Gets The Best PS3

When big PS3 games are released, Sony often launches a limited edition PS3, either with a special design or in a unique colour. Role-playing game Tales of Xillia is no different.

Out on September 8, the game will be sold as a stand alone title in Japan or bundled with a Tales of Xillia PS3. It's the first PS3 to feature several different colours (gold and red). The result is striking.

The bundle is priced at ¥37,980 or $440. There are also other preorder goodies such as mascot charms.

That's easily the best I've seen.. Now if only i actually knew anything about the game...

Personally, I think that even if the game bombed at least it would be known for having a well styled console edition.

Damn that is a tasty console. But what the eff is Tales of Xilia?

Not a fan of the ps3 but dammit I want this.
Perhaps Kotaku AU could get hold of a few and do some comps ;)

Wasn't there a white one for yakuza that had a dragon on it? Or was that a tshirt? Either way, I vote that one.

I don't know what Tales of Xillia is, but that PS3 is the cat's pyjamas.

gah, makes me want to play it even more now. curse you tales of series and your hard-to-get-english-localisedness

    I don't know what's sadder.

That we won't get this PS3, or that so many people don't know about Tales Of Xillia.

No wonder Namco-Bandai don't localise the Tales series with brand recognition like that.

Not everyone imports and plays their games in the original japanese, nor are the games really covered by western media outlets or even promoted in the west that well (if at all) by the japanese publishers so it's not really a suprise that people don't know about it.

It's a bit of a chicken or the egg syndrome, should the publishers promote more with no actual assurance that the games will gain traction in the west or should they wait for a ground swell of import interest before localizing all their titles?
