Tekken Brings The Iron Fist Tournament Direct To Blu-ray, DVD

The live action Tekken movie adaptation is bringing its version of the long-running fighting game series to a disc format near you this summer. Starting July 19, you can own Tekken on DVD, Blu-ray or some combination of the two.

This is director Dwight Little’s take on Namco’s fighting game franchise, a movie with a plot that goes something like this:

The year is 2039. World wars have destroyed everything and territories are run by corporations, the mightiest – and cruelest — of which is Tekken. Jin Kazama (John Foo) witnesses the death of his mother Jun (Tomita) by Tekken in the slums known as Anvil. Vowing vengeance, and armed only with his street smarts and raw fighting skills, he enters a dangerous and potentially deadly combat tournament, where he must defeat the world’s most elite fighters to become the “King of the Iron Fist.”

  • Wow this really took its time to come out…..I remember it leaking on the interwebs back in Jan or feb…and for what its worth its actually a half decent game to movie adaptation

    • Are you kidding me? This movie is a terrible adaption, just because characters have the same name and the premise of there being a tournament does not make it an adaption. The fact that you feel so says more about game to movie transition than it does about this movie itself.

  • I don’t get the point of this post, i bought this on Blu-Ray at JB Hi-Fi like 6 months ago. How is it only coming out now?

    • Yeah same. A mate got this for me months ago.

I love the series as a Game but for the record its a horrible movie. Well worth watching just to see those pants though. You will know what I am talking about if you’ve watched it.

  • Ahhhh its the US release. That makes sense. Why on earth did we get it early? lol

Sucked anyways, its no street fighter, but its still pretty bad

  • IU won a free pass to see this at the cinema…and didn.t go. Also couldnt give the tickets away!

  • Horrible movie and also reminded me why ‘theme’ fighting characters don’t work in real life. They look stupid as hell.

If you have guys whose themes are: Boxing, Spetznaz, Dress, Kickboxing etc.. They just look like complete tools.
