Man Can't Call His Child 'Dovahkiin', Builds Skyrim PC Instead

A new Elder Scrolls game does funny things to people. Reader Spenny, for example, in all seriousness tried to get his wife to agree to name their newborn son Dovahkiin, after the hero of Skyrim.

She, um, declined (maybe the fact it was for a competition helped), so Spenny went and did the next best thing: he built a custom PC dedicated to the game.

Modelled after the murals found in the game's early marketing and debut trailer, it's impressive stuff, doubly so since Spenny even went to the trouble of making a mock trailer for the rig.

Oh, and the stuff that looks like concrete? It's worth reading his workblog just to see how he got it done.

For those who care about the specs (even though this is all about the custom case), they are as follows:

Processor: Intel Core i7-2600k Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Pro Memory: 8GB Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Storage: Crucial M4 SSD & 2x 1.5TB WD Caviar Black HDDs Cooling system: Corsair H80 Liquid Cooling Video card: 2x EVGA GTX 560Ti 2GB Power supply: Corsair AX1200

Monitor and peripherals: ASUS 27" monitor, BlackWidow Ultimate keyboard, Razer Naga mouse & Logitech G35 headset.

I wonder how much help his wife gets with the baby?

spends what i can only assume is a shitload of money on building what is an awesome case...but skimps on some of the guts!

i mean you got an i7-2600K and your using 8gig or ripjaw ram?

and i dont know if i have just been out of it for a little too long but who are EVGA? sounds like a dud brand to me... but i may be wrong

sorry for bitching, but i'm at work on saturday when i should be playing skyrim...

its an epic case and good on him for putting the time in...tho as above said...i think mum is going to get a lot of alone time with the baby

Doesn't look like skimping to me - some things just don't need massive expenditure. 8gB ram is plenty if the mobo moves the data quick enough. I'm assuming his board is z68 chip so shouldn't be a problem. Its like you are ragging on the dude for having a $600 SLI setup instead of a GTX590 ($900) GPU solution. Diff'rent strokes man.
Alas I'm in a butt-picky mood too, as my copy of Skyrim is still sitting in a post office somewhere :-(

edit - just re-read and he has a P67 board - derp! Meh, my point still stands I think..

      What's wrong with GSkill Ripjaws?

Also, EVGA are an awesome brand and have been around competing with G/byte, ASUS and co for a fair while now.

EVGA are actually a very well respected brand in the custom PC industry.

Obviously talented but the design is terrible

I think the design is great, the work is great, the one-colour is a bit bleh (more contrast in the greys used wouldn't go amiss), but overall I have to say this man has style.

I laughed out loud at the title, I could just imagine his emotions in the space of 10 seconds.
