We Have Ripoff …

Each week throws off several new video game lists ranging from the humorous to the trivial. What’s better? A list of those. Here’s a roundup of the rundowns out there.

The Most Shameless Video Game Console Knockoffs [Ranker] The “Super Polystation,” the “Polystation 3,” the “Treamcast” and “Game Joy” headline this roundup of gaming platforms from exotic lands (i.e. China, most likely.) My favourite is the “PCP Station.” That shit will make you think you can fly.[top]

The 10 Best GameCube Exclusives (Other than the Obvious) [Joystiq] Our colleagues at Joystiq observe the 10th anniversary of the Nintendo console with the best non-Zelda, non-Mario titles to grace the GameCube and the GameCube alone, though there is one Donkey Kong title on here.

Twenty-Five Games Featuring Hip Hop Stars as Playable Characters [Complex] 50 Cent’s two games are obvious choices here and some (Shaq Fu) stretch the definition, where the titular character may be more well known outside of hip hop. Still, a very well researched list that spotlights some Easter eggs and hidden cameos in addition to above-the-line appearances.

11 of the Best Video Game Fan Films [UGO] “Best” being a relative term, of course. Considering Hollywood can’t make a video game film worth a damn, why do we assume amateurs can? What’s next, “Best Video Game Internet Petitions”?

Five Great Game Series That Got Off to Rocky Starts [GamePro] Assassin’s Creed was lucky that it had such a compelling landscape and premise. Otherwise, the dull action and the repetitive nature of the sidequests would have absolutely killed it. I dont think Red Dead Revolver had a rocky start at all, though. Maybe if it was compared to its spiritual descendant, but that game was a joy to play. I would have included the original Hitman: Codename 47 instead.
