A Pinball Role-Playing Game? Be Still My Shiny Spherical Heart

Coming soon to Pinball FX 2 and Zen Pinball platforms everywhere, Epic Quest is a pinball table that merges the science of the silver ball with the loot gathering, experience points, and levelling of a role-playing game. How dangerous is that concept?

I can’t load up Pinball FX2 on Xbox Live Arcade without spending at least a couple of hours playing through every table once or twice as it is. Now they’re giving me a table where experience points and loot carry over from game to game?

Obviously Zen Studios is trying to kill me.

“It is our quest to deliver the most entertaining and original pinball tables, and Epic Quest delivers on both fronts,” said Mel Kirk, Zen Studios Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations via the official announcement. “With a wink and a nudge towards classic RPG tropes, Epic Quest blends frantic pinball action, obsessive character building, and liberally applied tongue-in-cheek humour.”

Not only is the new table being released this month, it’s being released this month in Pinball FX 2 for the Xbox 360 and Zen Pinball for the PlayStation 3, iOS, and Android. There will be no escape.
