Sadly, Rock Band Blitz Does Not Feature Call Me Maybe

No matter how many times I ask the fine people at Harmonix to put Carly Rae Jepsen's masterpiece "Call Me Maybe" into Rock Band, they just don't listen.

But hey, the actual setlist for Rock Band Blitz — which Harmonix will release on August 28 for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network — is looking pretty groovy. Here's the full thing:

  • The All-American Rejects — "Kids in the Street"
  • Avenged Sevenfold — "So Far Away"
  • Barenaked Ladies — "One Week"
  • Blink-182 — "Always"
  • Collective Soul — "Shine"
  • Elton John — "I'm Still Standing"
  • Fall Out Boy — "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More ‘Touch Me'"
  • Foo Fighters — "These Days"
  • Foster the People — "Pumped Up Kicks"
  • Fun. ft. Janelle Monáe — "We Are Young"
  • Great White — "Once Bitten Twice Shy"
  • Kelly Clarkson — "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)"
  • Kool & The Gang — "Jungle Boogie"
  • Iron Maiden — "The Wicker Man"
  • Living Colour — "The Cult of Personality"
  • Maroon 5 — "Moves Like Jagger"
  • My Chemical Romance — "Sing"
  • P!nk — "Raise Your Glass"
  • Queen — "Death on Two Legs"
  • Quiet Riot — "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)"
  • Shinedown — Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)"
  • Soundgarden — "Spoonman"
  • Red Hot chilli Peppers — "Give It Away"
  • Rick Springfield — "Jessie's Girl"
  • Tears for Fears — "Shout"

These tracks will also be playable in Rock Band 3. And the instrument-free Rock Band Blitz will also be compatible with "most" of your existing Rock Band library, Harmonix says.

Day one times a bajillion. If for no other reason than more tracks for my RB3 library ;)

Did anyone see the chatroulette guy in a bikini dancing to Call Me Maybe? It was absolutely brilliant

Aww no Call me Maybe!? Best decision. By the looks of that track list, there's already too much rubbish in there :|

    Craptastic setlist. What a waste.

Glad I'm not the only one to think that. Looks more like a bloody singstar list than rock band :\

    That song list sucks.

And who the hell wants this game anyway? If it was on Vita and you could have a portable version, sure, but who the heck wants to play a gimped version of a better game?

It's worth noting that this same gameplay system was in lego rock band on DS, and it suuuuuucked.

I still don't understand the point of this game.

The whole appeal of playing games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero was using plastic instrument controllers to pretend to play real instruments. Take that away and you're not left with much. That's why even when I was into those games (I sold all my gear years ago now, and haven't touched it since) I never liked the mobile versions.

I also agree with the notion that the setlist itself is pretty bad, but since I'm not getting the game, I suppose I shouldn't care.

As an aside, I'm kind of interested to know if ANYONE here actually seriously still plays Rock Band or Guitar Hero outside of parties where some degree of alcohol is being consumed.

I still play RB3 pretty regularly. Having a pro guitar helps a lot because it's combing playing guitar hero with the skill of playing a guitar for real. I look at RB3 with the pro guitar as combining my two favourite time killers, gaming and guitar practice.

I've always been in the other party, where I don't care at all for the "pretending to play plastic instruments" notion. To me it's just another game, the songs are just levels set to be conquered. It's about the having the skill to be able to rise to the challenge set down.

So yes, I crack out Guitar Hero again every now and then. And I don't think I've ever played it anywhere near alcohol :P Parties/gatherings are usually the worst place to play it, other than gaming meets where I'm playing with others who can actually play the game.

Luckily pretty much every other dancing/singing game has that cruddy Call Me Maybe song in its playlist, so youre set!

I understand why this song wouldn't be included in this game, it is Rock Band, after all... minus a very few rare exceptions from artists of other genres... What I don't understand though is why they didn't include any new Green Day songs, with their new albums coming out and all, it would have been great if they threw one song in for us.

I can't wait for this to come out though, even if I wont actually really play this game, I still get that great music at an incredible price for Rock Band 3.

It's compatible with "most" of your existing Rock Band library because Rock Band 3 doesn't have an export (yet). The rest should work, and the two previously unexportable songs are in this setlist.

Future news: "Call Me Maybe" is released as DLC.
