Halo 4 Pirates Perma-Banned From Xbox LIVE

Folks caught playing leaked, pirated copies of Halo 4 are now in the process of being permanently banned from Xbox LIVE, reports MCV.

In order to play Halo 4, users have to be using a modded Xbox 360. Those who have subsequently connected to Xbox LIVE whilst playing the game have been caught and banned.

The email sent to offenders states the following:

This email is to notify you that your Xbox Live privileges have been permanently suspended due to illegitimate prerelease title play.

Because your conduct is in violation, the Xbox Live Enforcement Team has issued a permanent suspension. Your Xbox Live privileges will not be reinstated.

It’s a strong, but arguably fair response to the leak. Users will not be provided any more information about their ban, nor will there be any mercy regarding possible reinstatement.

“Consumers should be aware that piracy is illegal and we take vigorous action against illegal activity related to our products and services,” a Microsoft spokesperson told MCV. “Playing pirated copies of games, such as Halo 4, is a violation of the Xbox Live Terms of Use and will result in enforcement action, such as account and console bans.”
