The Witcher 3 Announced, First Artwork Revealed

It's yet to go live on the magazine's website, but the latest issue of Game Informer is now available for download for some digital subscribers. And the game on the cover is the previously unannounced The Witcher 3.

The image is legitimate; Zinio's subscription page confirms The Witcher 3 is this month's cover feature.

Some preliminary info supposedly contained in the article, courtesy of a NeoGAF user Indigo Cyclops with a Zinio subscription (my subscription is via the App Store, where this issue isn't available):

World supposedly 20% bigger than Skyrim's 30-40 minutes to cross world on Horseback New streaming technology (CDRED Engine 3) Geralt's Memory is restored No chapters/acts Dude is fucking DONE fighting for everyone else Everything from solving MYSTERIES to slaying monsters Coming out on "all top-of-the-line" consoles - I'd say that confirms next-gen is in.

The world would be a better place if that's what actual press releases looked like.

Hard to imagine The Witcher being bigger than Skyrim, Witcher 2 was actually pretty tiny so it seems like they might overhaul the engine which seems interesting

    Overall I'm excited for this.

They are using a whole new engine for this I'm pretty sure. CDRED Engine 3.

I doubt it's particularly different to RED Engine 1/2. The streaming style on that should work pretty well for an open-world.

This is awesome. Defiantly an instant buy for me on the next gen xbox.

I keep throwing my wallet at the screen but nothing is happening =(

    all aboard the hype train.

The follower has geraldts silver sword on the horse......or it could be another witcher riding alongside?
It could be Triss, or dandelion....or Letho?

Judging from the follower's legs and boots my first thought was Triss, but I just noticed there is some blonde hair coming out of the hood. I can't think of any blonde characters off the top of my head. Maybe Triss changed her hair (mages can change appearance at will).

For those who've read the books - I'd suggest maybe it's Ciri......

Great get. You may yet be proven be right, given the size of the rider...

I think events in later books would lead me to say, I doubt it. But would love it if it was her.

Throwing money at monitor but it's not working!

      Throw harder!

Open world is a big change for the witcher series, definitely keen for this.

I know it had chapters, but the first game was pretty loose in the sequence that you completed tasks. I think it will work.

Can't handle the wait. Must have now.

I'm guessing this was suppose to come out after the PS4 announcement

nope! back the cyberpunk 2077 trailer was released they hinted in the description that they had something else which as closer to completion to be announced on the 5th of Febuary

So "top of the line" consoles suggests it'll be on PlayStation as well as XBox? Seems like Sony's move to more PC-like architecture is paying dividends for them already. Next thing you know, even Bethesda will be able to figure out how to make it work.

...the only concern I've got, is if they're going for a multi-platform release, i hope they still use the PC as the lead platform.

Coz while the witcher 2 on 360 is pretty ok, the pc version is brilliant.

There's a difference between the two?

        Graphics and UI mainly

Oh.. well if that's all i'll breathe a sigh of relief. I got the ultimate edition when it came out on 360, just haven't gotten around to playing it yet - Just didn't want to miss out on all the awesome stuff that came with it lol

yep, contents the same, but its got some extra graphical bells & whistles.

I think my main concern is that CD Projeckt RED are one of the only big devs still making games with pc as the lead platform, & not just porting from consoles.

& i just think it'd be sad to loose another pc-prioritising dev.

Personally I think the 360 version of TW2 looks HIDEOUS compared to the PC version.

But the game is great, regardless... if a little short.
I found myself wanting more once the ending hit.

I wonder if, with the next lot of consoles, they will be able to create versions which are all 'on-par' with one another from a visual aspect this time? I imagine that's what they're going to aim for.

360 compared to a new high-spec PC that can handle ubersampling? 360 looks comparitively terrible. 360 compared to 6 year old PC and they look pretty similar. It wasn't a lousy port to the 360, it's just old technology.

Hey I never said it was a lousy port... just thought it looked pretty bad in comparison.
I understand the hardware limitations of the 360, which is the main reason I don't own one, and almost never use my PS3 (platform exclusives aside).

But as I said, the game is still great.
Definitely worth anyone's time if they don't have a capable PC. :)

Surely they have to... Well they should at least do 100 times better than Skyrim for instance.

This will defiantly be enough motivation for me to upgrade my computer whenever it comes out. I actually struggle a little with with TW2 on highest settings. Let's just hope this doesn't take 3 years to come out now. Hopefully we see it does 2014's out.

    I came. I saw. I came.

DAY FUCKING ONE! Should have some sort of formal announcement soon according to the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser, I NEED MORE INFO!

Owwww mumma....gonna install Witcher 2 again and get in the mooooood, this is coming out tomorrow right? RIGHT!!? :P

On closer inspection... What the heck is up with his face? He's got a bread? I guess coupled with all of them scares it'll just make the action even more... intense?

Also no one's probably interested but.

Just, you know, the developers talking about the game and a few extra images. =D
