The original Xbox and Xbox 360 weren’t allowed to for sale in China due to the country’s console ban. With the ban looking to stay in place for the foreseeable future, the availability of the Xbox One as well as other next-generation consoles in China is questionable.
Regardless of the availability Chinese gamers are still interested in finding out more about the next generation of consoles. Below are a few excerpts of what Chinese internet users think about the newly revealed Xbox One taken and translated from China’s largest social media network, Sina Weibo.
尾田荣一郎笔下的路飞:In my opinion, the PS3 still has the better design.
Pimp-Zimos:This must put a lot of strain on PC’s, I mean we just got to 4-cores and now the console is at 8?!
杜说:回复@抖抖手:) what the heck? Is that a console?
Frank小si凡:These specs….And you have to pay for second hand games?!
伊御死兔子:……So what is the point?……_(:3」∠)_
高龄龟炖龟苓膏:#XboxOne# Is it because my standards are so low? I think the the 360’s graphics were already good enough:今天 17:24)
试卷上画青春:Man…I haven’t played the PS3 yet.
盖世兔X:#XboxOne# Man, my dream was to own a 360, an now there’s a new generation?!:Jordan-H-:Domestically…hmm…It might not come (
凌城太守:What’s this got to do with me? Everyone knows the deal in China…
又见炊烟了啊:The design feels like it was ripped from HTC, beautiful.
小包玮玮:It’s not so far off now! There are pictures!Rumours say imports will need time!Rumours say it can’t be hacked!Looks like the dawn of legitimate gaming is here.披着头发的甲壳虫:The Xiaomi 3( Xiaomi is a mobile phone company) is going to copy this!
The Xbox 360 while not officially sold in China was easily accessible on the gray market (grey, if you’re British). The 360 was a fan favourite by Chinese pirates due it’s easily hackable nature. Pirates would hack the system and run counterfeit dvd rips of 360 games. It was harder to hack the PS3 and not as cost effective to bootleg Blu-ray discs.
Many of the commenters in China seem more interested in the prospects of whether the system will be sold in China or not than the other issues found with the Xbox One reveal. There wasn’t much of a response about the online connectivity issues or even talk about the controller. Of course all of that is moot if the system isn’t available in the first place. Of course, despite the ban and Chinese gamers who are interested in the next-gen will probably still be able to get their fix through the grey market once the consoles launch.

Rumors say it can’t be hacked? LOL. Give pirates time… even the unhackable ps3 ended up hacked… took a while but it happened.
It’ll end up like all such obtrusive DRM. The pirates will end up with a better experience than the paying customers.
This is too true. My son found a game the other night (hes 9 I cant believe he did this…) online and downloaded it, because he didnt have the 30 to pay for it. I scolded him for it and after playing it kind of agree its not worth the 30 lol (Prison Architect, maybe 20, maybe 15 not 30… at this point honestly). Anyhow we’ll buy the full version on steam during sales when it goes on special. For now, it’s drm free, no need to boot steam, a much better experience :O
I still can’t believe that shithead has started finding games online…
Where there is a will there is a way, i always tell my younger cousins if you are going to pirate something because there is no other way to try it then do so, but if you like it buy it, the people who made it deserve the money and its something that you enjoy, if you don’t like it then don’t buy it but also don’t continue using it otherwise you a ripping of peoples hard work.
Prison Architect is an indie game, you should teach him the value of offering cash to these small independent game devs 😛
True. Very true. But not 30 on it. Im not proud he did it and scolded him for it but we will be buying it. Just 30 is too high for what it offers.
You know it’s in alpha? They’re using the same model Minecraft used, they’re constantly adding new things on a monthly basis.
We paid 5 bucks for MC in alpha. It went up with full release. I will pay eventually when I see the value there, just not seeing it yet. Not for 30 bucks. Games like Kerbal Space Program for 20 when I got it impressed the hell out of me, 20 seemed reasonable, but 30 I dunno, it seems like ‘over the cap’ for me as a student with very limited finances.
It’s kind of weird. A while back I visited a friend who had a hacked PS2, with a giant hard-drive added. He had this ridiculously awesome list of games on it, and the GUI that was built up around accessing them was smooth and easy to use, and there was no memory card required. All in all, it was so dramatically an improved experience playing and switching between games than ANYTHING you could possibly ever pay for. Hell, it did a better job than the 360 ended up doing.
Why can’t companies do that? See that pirates are making their console only a million times better, and just GO with it. I would’ve bought that console.
I want to know what Estonian people think about it.
After that, lets find out about Uzbekistan, then Turkistan! After than what about Uganda and Iceland???
And the people of Omicron Persei 8, can’t leave them out. 😉
Lrrr: This console is chalky and unpleasant!
Nd-Nd: And what is this name? Your third console is called “Xbox One”?
Lrrr: Surely it refers to the first Xbox?
Nd-Nd: No, it’s the third one. Behold.
Lrrr: This concept of One confuses and infuriates us!
So what did the penguins in Antarctica think about the console?
Probably pissed as penguins get raughted by internet providers.
