Unbelievable GTA IV Shots Look Like Real Photos Of New York City

This week's gaming conversation has been dominated by Grand Theft Auto V, but these screenshots from a modded PC version of GTA IV are the most mind-blowing thing you'll see today.

Via Reddit, and modder darkdeus, these screenshots could probably pass for real photos of New York City if not for the misshapen people and GTA-style licence plates. We've shared video footage of crazy GTA IV mods before, but these are the best I've seen yet. They're unreal. Scroll all the way down — the last one is my favourite.

Holy crap! These screenshots look awesome. Who knew GTA IV could look this good.

It doesn't. Its only with the help of mods.

He said "could". It's very easy to get it looking like this.

I wouldn't have the first clue on how to do it.

That's why there are readmes included with mods. They're really not difficult to install.

Ah, ok. I've always been a console gamer, so I don't really know anything about mods or anything to do with PC gaming. I've always liked the simplicity of consoles, just put the game in and play.

I've always felt intimidated by PC gaming, because a) Using a keyboard and mouse for gaming just doesn't feel right to me, and b) I feel like I would get frustrated with it, because I don't understand all the different settings and how to adjust them to get the best quality graphics for my setup.

Besides, my computer's pretty crappy anyway.

You can use an Xbox controller on the PC.

It's amazing how much you can do with injected shader code, all you need is to beef up texture and mesh resolution and run that stuff over the top and games instantly look like a million bucks.

gives us an idea of what GTAV could potentially look like on PC

Please don't tell me he's only found out about iCEnhancer NOW?!?!

So I have GTAIV on steam. I have to get the iCEnhancer. Then downgrade my version of GTAIV and add a higher res texture pack?

Is that all. Anyone got a good link to a guide. When I looked into this, it seemed a bit all over the place. Couldn't find a straight forward guide of, do this and get it to look like this.

    Thats unbelievable!
Why is it always left to modders to make games look this good? Most (pretty much all) people will miss out on the opportunity to play like this.

Most people (Yes even PC gamers) don't have computers that can run this level of high end graphics at a stable frame rate. You need some serious power!

This is exactly why I'm waiting for GTAV on the PC.

Hopefully GTAV will look this good on PC when it comes out...but I doubt it until it's modded.

It's pretty - but it could do with a layer of dirt and grime. It looks way to clean for NYC.

The overcast, daytime, building only screenshots look incredibly real, but once you add people, cars, objects and/or lighting it only looks like a highly detailed video game screencap.

At least the mod fixes the crappy existing graphics. Now can you fix the gameplay?
A Triple A game should have better driving and shooting. I always wonder why people accept the very poor quality of GTA.
