“Some modders are making Morrowind in the Skyrim engine,” they said. It’s looking really good. And I listened to them, I did. But it wasn’t until I saw these screens that I believed it.
Screenshot master Duncan Harris of Dead End Thrills has been snapping shots of the Skywind project, and it is looking amazing. I’ll just let you drink in the shots below, and if you want to sign up to help with the project, you can do so here.
Pretty.
More shots as always over at Dead End Thrills, where Duncan has also been returning to his old stomping ground of Skyrim to post some amazing stuff.

Goddamn… this is gorgeous.
well more pictures to add to the wallpaper folder
I never played Morrowind, and I thought to myself why would someone do this – but I have to admit the game looks beautiful (must be incorporating all the mods needed to make Skyrim beautiful) :P.
Maybe coming to a PC near you when it’s done…
Better then the slogan for the people that bought Skyrim on console.
What they fail to mention is this mod is clearly using an ENB and/or SweetFX post-processing profile to get those screenshots. They look amazing yes, but there is quite a performance hit.
http://tesrenewal.com/skywind-faq – read question 4, all you did was fail to read 😛
Me Likey!!! Wish someone remade every Elder Scrolls game for PC or Next Gen with the Skyrim mod it would be Amazing. Also while they’re at it Remake all the Fallout Games with the Skyrim Engine as well!!!
It’s pretty, but do they have a real-time Silt Strider ride yet?
I want to get this mod but I am not willing to pick up my fourth copy of morrowind GOTY ed (lost the others).
It’s not piracy if you’ve already paid the developers. Fair use says you’re allowed to make a backup copy for personal use, and would you look at that, someone’s saved you the trouble of copying the disk by posting it online already.
Don’t waste your time with Skyrim on console, @Rize. It’s a good play, but you only experience the tiniest fraction of the experience compared to the PC version with it’s fantastic mods and rebuild that aren’t constrained by the PS3/360’s limitations. This is not about taunting console players, just, with what’s available in terms of mods, rebuilds and the creativity of the modding community (this mod above is a perfect example), you’re missing out on some incredible work!
If you won’t taunt the console players, I will. I like modding games to make them better. Its fine if you like being in a closed system that you can’t change, but some of the best content out there is from mods. Not just for skyrim, or other elder scrolls games, but for every game that has mods ever. It extends the life of the game, your purchase, immensely.
I only clocked 36 hrs on Skyrim for Ps3 (had a shite PC at the time). I wanted to do more but it was almost unplayable. Basically finished the main story amd gave up.
Spectacular!
The art direction for the original Morrowind was fantastic… Such a shame Bethesda went for more generic/realistic settings in the following ES games. They should be reminded (and hopefully inspired) that fantasy can be anything.
While I do agree that Skywind looks fantastic, and is a great concept, I think the people developing are doing so a tad prematurely. Skyrim uses an outdated and buggy engine that has been around and used for far too long. The fact that you can only use 3Gb system memory for the game and the way the engine handles memory management, is terrible. It is still essentially the same engine they’ve been using for years, and it’s well and truly due for an upgrade.
Don’t get me wrong, it looks fantastic, and I’m excited to see how it turns out, I just think they should have waited until a new engine is released for better stability.
