Phantasy Star Online 2 Is Still MIA In The West, But Hey Look Anime

Nearly four years ago, Sega announced Phantasy Star Online 2 for Western release. That still hasn't happened. But at least we're getting the anime? Sentai Filmworks, a North American anime distributor that sublicenses to Hanabee in Australia, announced yesterday that they have licensed the animated version of Sega's wayward MMORPG and that it will be out next year. Meanwhile, Sega still won't even admit that they have axed the Western version of Phantasy Star Online 2, despite the fact that they haven't said a thing about the game since they announced it for US release in July, 2012.

Oh, actually, they did say one thing this past winter, following the Japanese announcement of a PS4 version. "SEGA is currently not planning to release the PS4 version of Phantasy Star Online 2 outside of Japan," a rep told Kotaku. Sorry, Phantasy Star fans. Enjoy the anime!

Lol... anybody who still has any remote interest on PSO2 has pretty much jumped on the Jp servers already anyway. (Ship 10 for me btw! xD)

The so-called Western release has been an on going joke between most of the PSO community at this point =P

Don't you guys get banned if you found out to be overseas user?

        Not necessarily.

The Jp ToC *does* have that clause where they can terminate an overseas account mostly because of the stupid anon hacking done after open Beta years ago coz idiots just felt like messing with the game and used "it doesn't have an english release date yet!" as a stupid excuse (this was done literally just after the PSO2 anouncement for english but w/o any dates yet so it was a stupid/flimsy excuse). But no one has really been targeted by this. As long as you're not a total ass online then most of the player base don't care and are pretty friendly... heck there is an unofficial "English" lobby already on Ship 2 where most of the english speaking player base congregate.

The whole "you'll be banned coz your gaijin" is pretty much just fear mongering stuff. There's active folks from EU, NA and Aus that play on the Jp servers on Ship 2. My account is actually over 1-2 years old and there are still accounts who have been active since open Beta.

Just give me a good JRPG Phantasy Star title like the good old days, before it was pushed into an online title.

Star Ocean V is the closest you're gonna get (world setting at least anyway).

I believe the english release is already available for sea why not using it?
