Well, this exists.
As Coming Soon reports, DHX Media Ltd. and Dentsu Entertainment USA, Inc. are developing a new Mega Man animated series. It’s slated for 2017 to mark the series 30th anniversary. The series will follow Mega Man’s new alter-ego, Aki Light, who is a school boy robot outfitted with super armour.
The above Mega Man is how the character will apparently appear on the show (Capcom also posted it on its Unity Blog).
What does the internet think so far? Let’s have a quick look!

That new Mega Man cartoon looks like Capcom saw yesterday’s Mighty No.9 trailer and sneered, “Oh yeah, Inafune? We can top THAT.”

Maybe it’s just me, but I think if just his face had a more classic look then the new Mega Man wouldn’t look so bad. pic.twitter.com/0qxNicTO2P

It’s ok we still have Rockman… right?
while you are thinking Instagram made the worst decision in “graphic upgrade”, capcom always has better a thumb card
I get that even though I’m a Mega Man fan this isn’t really for me, but that design just looks cheap.
I really don’t need this to be classic Mega Man. I think classic Mega Man could result in something awesome, but I’ve got nothing against the supposed plot and setting changes. I’m not into it but like Battle Network I’m sure it’ll be fine. I just wish I could figure out what they’re trying to accomplish with this art style.
If I remember correctly, DHX said that this show was aimed towards 6-7 year olds AS WELL as fans of the original Mega Man games.
Okay. So… I get why people don’t like the new design. But I would like to point out that IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE. At the very least, he is still recognizable as Megaman. He is still wearing blue, with a blue helmet and blue armor. Really, we’re lucky they didn’t decide to make him wear red instead because it sells better.
We could’ve gotten:
– A giant suit of power armour from Fallout colored blue and have it set in the post apocalypse.
– A weird thing where Megaman is entirely human, happens to have a laser gun, and happens to wear blue jeans and a blue jacket where Megaman is a bounty hunter.
– A Megaman animated in the style of Matt Groening.
– Have this design actually be Megaman X and have an even shittier version of Megaman as the Classic version.
– A super edgy grimdark Megaman created by an ailing inventor to defeat an army of super terminators in the last days of humanity, where there’s no hope for the human race but at least Wily’s defeated.
– A Megaman reboot that places a heavy sense of morality on Megaman’s fighting of the Robot Masters to point out that it’s actually Megaman who’s the bad guy.
– A lame comedy/pun show/lowest common denominator boredom fest like Teen Titans Go.
– A five minute short and then Capcom permanently shelves the franchise and releases the new Street Fighter 5-II: Turbo: Ultimate Edition: Golden – Now with DLC.
Honestly, I’m just happy we’re getting something that’s actual Megaman.
as long as it’s at least as watchable as the rockman.exe series of anime, then I won’t have any problems.
Didn’t we already have some shitty cartoon where some twerp goes into VR or whatever, calling himself Megaman just to excuse the title? I could swear I saw that years ago, enduring morning TV when I was off work sick one day.
It’s mega man, right? Consider it cancelled
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
If the writers are smart they will throw a Bad Box Art MEGA MAN cameo in this show, this will make the desing less shitter, is not that is bad the thing is that in this static image the face have a horrible expresion.
