Not only is there more Darth Vader in this new international trailer for Rogue One, we also get the full exchange explaining the title of this movie and a bit more of Jyn Erso’s (Felicity Jones) background.
Based on this trailer, we have a few things to note. They aren’t spoilers as much as they are speculation, but still:
The biggest thing of note here is the crystal Jyn’s mum gives her while saying, “Trust in the Force.”
We’ve been hearing rumours constantly that one of the revelations in Rogue One is going to be that kyber crystals — most famously used in lightsabers — are one of the key components of the Death Star. It’s been hinted at in Ahsoka, a book that takes place between Revenge of the Sith and An New Hope. That book even explains how the crystals can change colour.
If the thing Jyn’s father was doing was experimenting with the crystals, which is why she has one, that would explain why the Empire came for him. And Jyn’s is a symbolic through-line from her childhood to the Death Star.

Looks the goods.
I love Darth Vader.
I have a slight problem with this movie. When I watched Star Wars, people would say things like the Force is a myth and you don’t hear anyone saying “May the Force be with you” until good old Ben gives hope and pretty much at the very end of Star Wars (a new hope). I know it’s kind of a catch phrase but I’ve always thought that between Ep3 and Ep4, the Force slowly went to myth until Ben. Does anyone else having something similar to this?
All this time I’ve been anticipating a Bothan slaughterfest. Just found out that was Death Star 2.0.
Devo.
It’s possible a few Bothans died getting the plans for the first one too. Just not as many.
this just looks way to good. its as if saving private ryan crossed with episode 5
It’s looking good but I remain upset that Kyle Katarn got the shaft with the EU purge. Because he was the best and the coolest and the strongest.
On that note, I would not expect direct Ahsoka references in this moviefilm for same reason.
