So, in a certain way, that’s a comic based on a game inspired by a movie based on a comic that the game based on a movie is also based on, loosely. I think. Hold on, I’m starting to get a headache.

Revealed on Marvel’s website today to coincide with the first episode of Telltale Game’s episodic Guardians of the Galaxy series release, the aptly named Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series comic will be written by Fred Van Lente, with art by Salva Espin.
And while it’s set in the game’s world, the five-part series is actually a prequel to events of the game (which is driven by player choice, so it’d be hard to make a comic out of). It’s a really weird move from Marvel, but given the huge surge in popularity in the Guardians as a team in the wake of the first film, and with the second just weeks away, maybe another new take on the team is a smart idea for them.
