Red Alert 3, the game with the greatest cast and FMV cutscenes of all time, has three factions: the Allies, the Soviet Union and Japan. A team of Chinese modders have been working for years to add to that roster.
The Eastern Loong mod, first released in Chinese in 2012, adds China as an entirely new side in the game (as in, it doesn’t just write over the top of an existing army), with its own unique units, buildings and abilities.
Chinese buildings aren’t built, for example, they’re dropped from the sky, and many units have anti-matter weaponry instead of cannons and machine guns. There are even intro vids, and the faction has been entirely dubbed.
The mod has been available in Chinese for a while, but I’m posting it here because the team have announced that they’re working on localising it into English, which should be fun. You can keep an eye on The Eastern Loong here.

Let’s Brainstorm a Wishlist for Actors in a contemporary Command and Conquer. For me:
– Alec Baldwin as the leader of a non-specific military-driven Western Democracy
– Peter Dinklage as a Rebel leader
– Gal Gadot in whatever goddamn role she wants to play
I think the next Command and Conquer will be a reboot of the Tiberium saga.
Alec Baldwin for the Supreme Commander of the GDI then.
Chris Pratt as the second-in-command of the Brotherhood of NOD (Because Joe Kucan will always be Kane)
Oh God yes, Kucan is a stalwart. Wouldn’t feel like a C&C game without him!
I would say Red Alert 2 trod the line between awesome and camp, whereas Red Alert 3 fell hard into the depths of camp despite and in a lot of cases because of its all-star cast. Tim Curry was great though.
Yeah 3 was a bit of a let down in terms of gameplay. Which is why I used to play more often with the Red Alert 2 mod 😉
I can’t wait to try this out! Sounds great!
Sorry Luke but RA2 had the best cast and FMV of all time
Can’t beat General Carville
Ivan did.
