Despite grand promises at E3 this year, Bethesda’s conceptual sequel to paid mods, the Creation Club, recently debuted in Fallout 4 with milquetoast fare like a ten-years-too-late horse armour gag. Sceptical fans weren’t thrilled. Now modders have taken matters into their own hands.
Since an update at the end of August, the upper right-hand quadrant of the PC version of Fallout 4‘s main menu has been taken over by a section titled “CREATION CLUB NEWS” (caps are Bethesda’s, not mine).
It’s basically a big, gaudy ad for paid content that people find to be unspectacular at best. Enter the “No More Creation Club News” mod by a modder named InAComaDial999. It’s currently the second most popular file of the month on Nexus Mods’ Fallout 4 page. It gets rid of the ad. That’s it.
Here’s a before shot:

You gotta admit, Fallout 4‘s main menu does look much better without a heaping helping of ad copy killing the post-apocalyptic vibe.
I imagine, though, that people aren’t downloading this mod because they’re aesthetic purists. They want to stick it to the man, and this feels like a tiny middle finger they can deploy at will.
It’s kind of a shame, because on paper, Fallout 4‘s Creation Club, with modders/devs getting professional-level backing from Bethesda, could be really cool. Hopefully the next batch of not-mods from Bethesda and friends will be not, you know, bad.

Just make a new game! No one wants the creation club crap
The problem is on paper… is not what was delivered in the code or the sales department.
Instead of a market place of brand new quality 3rd party built mods for affordable prices… they got knock off reskins and recodes with excessive prices. Their promised quality control and new development never existed.
They are currently having a sale and a give way with the horse power armour and Morgan’s space suit being given away for free.
It’s clearly because of the backlash against the Creation club and they hope to possibly change peoples minds slightly but in the process they have managed to alienate the fans who had already purchased those items who feel like they have now been ripped off for supporting Bethesda.
Bethesda really needs a new PR department
Bethesda refusing to allow publications to review the game before release showed me how much they care about fans. They dont give a shit about us. They want to pump out crap and generate as much profit as possible.
Personally I’ve enjoyed everyone of the Fallout games, even 4. Heck I have them all installed at the moment.
I get a lot of people didn’t like 4 but it was their best seller
I loved those games as well. Its only recently Bethesda has taken an anti consumer turn. You only need to look as Dishonored 2 to see why Bethesda is not allow early review copies. They dont want people to know they are trying to sell broken games. They want people to spend all their money first.
I had no idea that had issues, worked perfectly for me when I picked it up a couple of months ago, great fun.
Had a quick Google.. Wow that was shocking
Yup, Right before the release of Dishonored 2. Bethesda instituted a no review copy policy so reviews could only come out after the release. I wonder why? 🙂
It’s worth re-installing this game just so I can get that mod. That’s amazing.
