Over the weekend Australia fell in love with a young lad who has been dubbed Egg Boy.
The seventeen-year-old, whose real name is Will Connolly, egged racist senator Fraser Anning after he blamed Friday’s terrorist attack in New Zealand on Muslim immigration.
The grown man reciprocated by punching the teen twice, before the latter was tackled and put in a choke hold by several other adult men.
Unsurprisingly, the internet is predominantly standing its new hero.
The memes and support began appearing immediately

The kids rally for climate change and what the egg boy did proves that young people are keenly involved in politics & care deeply about what politicians are doing. Australian kids are inspirational. They bring hope to us all. And they’ll soon get to vote. #ClimateStrike #eggboy

Happily, I can report that an Italian comrade just messaged me to say that the #eggboy incident is being referred to as “LA FACEOMELETTE” and they request 10,000 eggs immediately for their own domestic use. #auspol

And someone remixed the footage with some Aussie bangers
The Simpsons Against The Liberals had a field day
Someone picked up on Pauline Hanson’s apt retweets before the incident
I just went over to Pauline Hanson's twitter to check whether she'd said much lately and oh my god you won't believe what her last two tweets were ???????????? pic.twitter.com/7jLoQf02oK

Not everyone is supportive of Egg Boy, though. Irrelevant 90s Superman states that he straight up would have knocked out a child.
I would have knocked that kid cold.

Arguing with Dean Cain over whether Superman would punch Nazis…8-year-old me's mind would be blown/heart would be broken.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s an American actor with no knowledge of Australian politics seeking to beat up an underage boy!
What on Earth, Dean Cain? pic.twitter.com/4o9tm6d4lr
