What Are You Playing This Weekend?
Oh look, it's Fahey's bullshit. (Screenshot: Square Enix)

Let’s drop this pretense about what the weekend is for and get straight to the point. Of course I will be playing the free PlayStation 4 idol rhythm game from Square Enix this weekend. No one needs a post to tell them that. What’s that? It’s called Love Live! School Idol Festival ~after school ACTIVITY~ Wai-Wai! Home Meeting!!? Why am I even here today?

Sure, I’ll be doing Monster Hunter and maybe poking at Balan Wonderworld to see if that got any better following the demo that everyone except for me laughed at. But mostly I’ll be playing *takes a deep breath* Love Live! School Idol Festival ~after school ACTIVITY~ Wai-Wai! Home Meeting!!, the free-to-start version of the popular Japanese arcade game. The base version’s got eight songs to unlock and play, and I hear there might be some paid DLC.

Just a little.

So, what are you people playing this weekend? Does your game have a couple hundred dollars worth of downloadable content, or is it for sensible people?

  • Replaying Cyberpunk 2077 as a different character this time round.

First character was male, focussed on fist-talk, by the end I had legendary gorilla hands and combat was just hilarious, sending fleshy enemies flying, then leaping on top of mechs and hammering them into the dirt, intercepting flying enemies by jumping high up and punching them out of the sky.

Second character now is a female, focussed on hacking, and the game just feels broken at this point.
Hacking is OP, you get stupidly rich quick from hacking everything, not to mention you’re a god in combat.
I managed to get the suicide hack which makes enemies shoot themselves in the head, so with every single encounter you just stand really far away, hack one person to kill themselves (the hack spreads to nearest enemy so they die too) backup arrives, ability cooldown is 7 seconds, and you rinse and repeat.
I’ve reached the end of the game and I’ve shot bullets for the fun of it, not because I had to.

    • The secret route’s opening is a bit rough for hacker focused, at least I found it took me a fair few tries. It is joyously OP tho. Which is how it should be when you get stupid amounts of skill!

As for what I’m playing. Yakuza Kiwami 2. I’m actually enjoying the Dragon engine combat (which I didn’t with 6 on PC) and enjoying the more intimate experience of the different camera and new cinemas. Just got up to the Cabaret Grand Prix and can see thats going to be the end of my story progression for a while.
