One Of Miles’ Spider-Man 2 Suits Unlocks A Rad Bonus Feature

Much like the 2020 franchise spin-off, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2 contains a neat Easter egg directly connected to the amazing animated film, Into the Spider-Verse. And the best part is it’s easy to find.

Insomniac Games’ open-world superhero RPG Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features quite a few latex garments for our duo webheads to wear around New York. Of the assortment of suits available at your disposal is the Into the Spider-Verse costume, which comes with dope VFX effects that mirror the film’s aesthetic.

In a wonderful design decision, Into the Spider-Verse animated Miles “on twos,” meaning that character alone was only redrawn 12 times a second, rather than the 24 fps for everyone—and everything—else in the movie. This created the stuttering frame rate that gave Miles Morales his iconic look in the 2018 film, designed to have him feel more inexperienced, more clumsy, than the more established Spider-Men. The same is true in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 once you unlock the Into the Spider-Verse suit, and it’s glorious.

How To Unlock The Three Into The Spider-Verse Suits

There are three different Into the Spider-Verse suits you can dress both Miles Morales and Peter Parker in. The first—the Noir Suit—is for Peter and you can unlock it by reaching level 22 and spending four City Tokens and 50 Tech Parts, two types of currency in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The next two, two variations on the Spider-Verse suit, are for Miles. One unlocks at level 30 and costs two Hero Tokens and 60 Tech Parts, while the other hits your inventory at level 33 and costs five City Tokens and 70 Tech Parts. Pretty easy.

The only time-consuming part is getting the resources needed to acquire the suits. If you wanted to snatch all three, you’d need at least 11 Hero Tokens and 180 Tech Parts. You get these from completing random crimes around New York, finishing main and side quests, finding spider bots, and tackling symbiote nests. Basically, if you’re playing the game and doing some open-world activities on the side, you should quickly get enough currency to unlock these suits. Nice.

The animations these three suits come with all match the two films, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its 2023 sequel Across the Spider-Verse. These animation effects are toggled on by default, but if you navigate to the Screen Effects section under Visuals in the Settings menu, you can turn them off whenever you want, in case that stuttering is somewhat jarring.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been one helluva success for Insomniac Games. Not only has it reviewed well across Metacritic and Open Critic, it’s also become the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game ever. That’s an achievement. It’s so good, in fact, that the developers aren’t ruling out a Venom spin-off. I’m so in.
