One of the hardest things in World of Warcraft is making the transition from levelling and playing casually to joining raids or even dungeon groups. YouTuber LazyPeon’s video, tuned for Warlords of Draenor, helps a lot.
It’s a really good summary of everything, from UI setups to group communication, that’s necessary to do to make this step. It will be a bumpy ride, but at the end, you’ll be able to beat all the raid bosses, just like Finnish top guild Paragon did a few days ago, as you can see in the above pic.
Here’s a quick summary of the ten steps:
- Set your keybindings
- Research your class and its specs
- Learn to interrupt, dispell, and decurse
- Try different roles
- Track cooldowns
- Be communicative
- Research boss fights and boss mechanics before the encounters
- Optimise your character
- Learn how crowd control works
- Practice
And don’t forget: When you’re in a group and something bad happens, always blame the healer. If you are the healer, always blame the tank. (Just kidding, find a friendly guild or a nice group of people and you won’t have to blame anyone.)

A lot more difficult thanks to the awesome AOE warnings they put in!
Healers can cleanse, dispell, decurse… but you can’t heal ‘stupid’.
12. Quit your job.
13. Quit your family.
14. Quit real life and being a human. Become one with WoW.
13. Who needs 40 friends?
13. Loot the flippin Corehound!

Honestly those 3 would do it for me though play other roles would potentially (though not likely) lower the inter-role bitching out that goes on.
I can’t imagine ever playing without keybinding
as a tank the biggest one I would say as general advice to everyone. find your ability that interrupts and bind it to F or any other easily pressed button.
once you have that interrupt bound to a key use it to interrupt abilities, interrupt as many times as you can the less spells the enemy is casting the less damage the group/tank is taking. of course there is a caveat here for bosses with specific abilities that need to be interrupted in those cases save your interrupts for that
