Valve moves into 2015 with the “Encore” sale. Here’s our picks of today’s best deals.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
I’ve spent much of the last week stuck in bed with a lousy chest infection, and I’ve spent much of that week making my way through Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Is it as good as Borderlands 2? No, it’s not, but it’s still solid, slightly sarcastic shooting fun, on sale today at half price.
South Park: The Stick Of Truth
Another in the list of “I should pick this up while it’s cheap” titles that make Steam sales so particularly dangerous. Sure, you’ll get the censored Aussie version if you buy it this way, although those scenes are stupidly easy to track down on YouTube if you’re keen.
Alien Isolation
A strong pick amongst critics as the game of the year, and today Steam’s selling it at $US24.99, which is pretty hard to resist. I must be strong. I must be strong…
Hatoful Boyfriend
I love a quirky game. I know, you’re surprised and all. But a dating sim? That might be taking things too far, were Hatoful Boyfriend anything but a pigeon dating sim. I’d like to think that Sesame Street’s Bert would approve of both the subject matter and today’s $US5.99 asking price.

Hatoful Boyfriend… Sesame Streets Bert? Gives ‘doing the pidgeon’ a new dirtier meaning :O
Bundlestars has Shadow of Mordor + all DLC at 50% off for the next 2.5 days, and to top it off the starting price they are working off is lower than steam’s, further reducing the price (the premium edition on bundlestars is $2 cheaper than the on sale base game on steam).
No mention of Endless Space discounted 80%? That was the one that jumped at me.
