There’s no rule against long speedruns. Even when played with haste in mind, some games just take a while to complete. So when you stick a bunch of speedruns together in what you could call a marathon, you’re essentially guaranteed an interesting combination of… fast and long? That sounded so much cleaner in my head.
Speedrun lovers are in luck for the next fortnight, with a massive schedule of real-quick games scheduled until December 16. It’s all part of this year’s Really Really Long A Thon.
The whole point of the ‘thon is to “promote longer runs that you would never be able to see in other marathons”. To this end, all games “must be at least 4 hours long” or “be the community accepted definition for 100%/MAX%/whatever form of large category that isn’t Any% or Low%”.
Here’s a few of the games that will be played:
- Super Mario 3D World
- Mass Effect 2
- Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon
- Final Fantasy XIII
- The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
- Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
- Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony
And a bunch more. You can check out the full schedule on Horaro, or just tune into the Twitch channel embedded above.
