Emulators have been doing some great work in getting Breath of the Wild just playable on the Switch, let alone to a nice state. But if you haven't checked in with their progress lately, wow have they come a long way.

We've seen GTA, Mario and Minecraft modded into Breath of the Wild on PC, but now we are getting into the good stuff.
Now that Zelda: Breath of the Wild is running pretty well on the PC, it's time for people to start messing it with. Like turning Link into Carl Johnson from GTA: San Andreas, or Steve from Minecraft.
As we've seen, you can play Breath of the Wild on a PC using an emulator. It isn't exactly optimal, but there's a tiny bright side to the struggle: You can open a busted treasure chest that on both Switch and Wii U is inaccessible.
In October, the Cemu emulator -- which allows Wii U games to be played on a PC -- could barely boot Mario Kart 8's menu. Now, just two months later, it's doing an OK job of actually running the game.
