That analyst would be Stern Agee’s Arvind Bhatia, who writes that Blizzard Entertainment’s next products are “expansion packs for Starcraft and World of Warcraft, a new Diablo game, [and]a new casual MMO” will “likely be released in the next 12 to 24 months”. Bhatia clarified with Gamasutra that the “casual MMO” he was referring to was, indeed, Titan.
With World of Warcraft appearing to have reached its player-base cap and Activision more reliant on Call of Duty to be a success, a newer broader market for Titan would make sense – even if we don’t know just how “casual” this game is expected to be.

Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 9:27 AMEither way it’ll be made by Blizzard so I sure as well won’t be going near it… wonder if you’ll have to use your real names as character names this time round!?

Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 10:10 AMYou can only see your real name if you are friends =/ Chillax buddy this point had been shot down by them way early on after some security debacle in the first week.

Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 5:01 PMThe paranoia about Real ID was blown way out of proportion. I used it for maybe a dozen RL friends I had and that’s it, it did everything it was supposed to do.
Plus they shut down the real name forum posting, so they are listening.

Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 9:42 AMThat’s an odd comment Sam. The real names thing was for the forums only, never in game. Can you imagine the might dwarf warrior Jeremy Sutton?
I’m a little doubtful about the 12-24 month timeline. This is Blizzard, I’ll be looking forward to trying Titan in 2022

Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 4:51 PMSo, WoW will get less casual friendly once it’s out? Woot.

Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 6:19 PM“… a game they’re calling Titan for now. Blizzard calls it “awesome” and “ambitious”. And one analyst calls it “casual”.”
And Bobby Kotick calls it “cash cow.”

Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 6:38 PMWoW is too casual now, and way way too much of a cookie cutter build/character/item design.. Its not what I want or expect from an MMO.
Titan had better offer real customization and character creation otherwise, big meh – ill be passing it up this time.

Friday, July 1, 2011 at 7:56 AMI’d hardly call WOW casual myself. I’d clarify that by my defention, a casual interest is something you give, roughly, an hour or two to per week. For the time I did raid, it was multiple days a week, usually from when I got home from work untill I went to bed. That only lasted about a month or so before I’d had enough.
However, Blizzard has a fantasic track record with new IP’s, so I’ll be interested to see how Titan ends up playing out.

Friday, July 1, 2011 at 10:40 PMMy guess is it will have a casual/social component where people can log in and do the whole social/group thing and this part of it will not really resemble a traditional MMO. Then there will be the actual MMO game component which will not be casual and will work similar to WOW or other popular MMO’s in that you will deed to dedicate significant time to it to get ahead.
