Ridge Racer Has Only Three Tracks? 30FPS? No Thanks!

I like Ridge Racer. It’s a guilty pleasure. And I was actually thinking of getting the next game. That is, until I heard what madness Namco Bandai is pulling.

When the game goes on sale December 17, it will come with only three tracks and five cars. That’s it.

The three tracks are Harborline 765, Highland Cliffs and Southbay Docks. All three of the tracks can be raced in reverse, and they have all appeared in previous Ridge Racer games.

Namco Bandai will release more tracks in the future — more cars, too. If that wasn’t bad enough, the game will run at 30 frames per second.

Even though Ridge Racer is one of the cheaper Vita games, and even though I thought I could see myself playing it on the Vita, I can’t see myself buying it.

I’ll be sitting this Ridge Racer out.

No, this is the wrong answer, at it’s best, Ridge Racer is still completely relevant in the Arcade Racer genre, all they needed to do is make a full game similar to the Ridge Racer titles on the PSP and it would have been glorious.

Potentially, the end product of all the DLC will be at that same level, it’s just the delivery method isn’t as convenient and likely to cost more in the end.

This article isn’t biased at all, and Brian Ashcraft is a great writer!

I was just thinking that. and even if it isn’t on the disc, its probably sitting on their computers waiting to be converted to paid DLC.

Disappointing. Considering how Ridge Racer was probably the best PSP launch game and lasted me a good while until better games came along.

Meh. Ridge Racer has always been a pretty bad arcade racer if you ask me. Though with Burnout and Midnight Club both being extremely quiet lately I wonder if it was the only one left. :/
