Making good costumes isn’t easy and neither is taking good cosplay photos. Like a fashion or a movie shoot, there is behind-the-scenes magic that goes into bringing the cosplay to life.

As pointed out by Japanese site Kinisoku, recently some cosplayers have been sharing peeks at how they brought their pics to life.
For example, cosplayer Honey-poppo showed off the above pic, titled “Cosplayers on the internet.”

Then, she titled this photo, “Cosplayers in reality.” These images were retweeted over three thousand times.
Online, some were surprised that this was what an actual cosplay shoot looked like and thought the contrast between the finished photo and the on-location image was interesting. You can really see where the skill of the cosplayers and photographers comes into play! This will be a familiar sight to anyone who’s ever been involved in a photo or film shoot.
Others also shared similar photos, giving insight to how they create cosplay images:

This is somewhat reminiscent of images that popped up last year, showing things that cosplayers often deal with during shoots.

Recently, a new hashtag even appeared to show pictures before they they go through Photoshop or digital editing (#レイヤーの加工前加工後の写真比較が見たい).
