Many Metal Gear Solid fans aren’t exactly happy that David Hayter will not — as far as we can tell — be reprising his role as Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V. That much isn’t surprising. Amusingly, the inability to let Hayter go has led some fans to concoct a ridiculous conspiracy theory about what’s actually happening with MGSV.

Jack Bauer will play Naked Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Konami just announced during its pre-recorded E3 press conference. Naked Snake, as you might remember from MGS3, is actually Big Boss, clone-father to longtime series protagonist Solid Snake. But this is a big twist for the series: all incarnations of Snake are usually played by the gravelly voiced David Hayter.

Is David Hayter Playing Snake In MGS5?
Ever since David Hayter tearfully announced that he wouldn’t be returning as Snake for the next Metal Gear Solid game, I’ve had a gut feeling that he will be returning as Snake. Get this: the longtime Snake voice actor tweeted yesterday that he’ll be making an appearance at E3 in a week and a half.

Acapella Can’t Make The Metal Gear Solid Theme Kick Any Less Ass
Not all music can survive the a capella treatment, let alone the “Geekapella” treatment. Goofy dudes (Max and Sam) singing geeky music, sort of in tune and sort of out of tune… a lesser theme song might lose some of its dramatic heft. Not Metal Gear Solid.
