The Week In Games

Game of the week is undoubtedly Empire: Total War, from the Creative Assembly and Sega. Sure, the competition isn’t the strongest, but this is a title that would tower above all others most weeks of the year. However, if a monolithic PC strategy game isn’t your idea of fun, there’s always Rapala Fishing Frenzy…

March 5

AC/DC Live: Rock Band (Wii)
What Is It? The Rock Band track pack finally makes it to Wii.
Should You Care? This really is between you and your love of RAWK!

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (DS)
What Is It? 2D exploration-based platformer with mild RPG aspects. And one of my favourite game series of all time.
Should You Care? Regarded as the best of the DS interpretations, it’s a great starting point for newcomers and a must-have for fans.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice(PS3)
What Is It? Strategy RPG whose release was delayed from a few weeks ago.
Should You Care? We can only reiterate our previous recommendation.

Empire: Total War (PC)
What Is It? The kind of staggeringly vast strategy game that humbles even the genre’s best in terms of depth and scale.
Should You Care? It’s games like this that remind you of why you choose to game on a PC.

Littlest Pet Shop: Spring (DS)
What Is It? Oh look, another one of these things.
Should You Care? Huh? Isn’t it now autumn?

Race Pro (360)
What Is It? Hardcore racing sim from Simbin, developer of similarly hardcore PC racing sims.
Should You Care? There’s nothing quite like it on 360, so give it a shot if Forza felt too much like Outrun.

Rapala Fishing Frenzy (PS3, 360)
What Is It? Serious angling simulation at a not-quite-budget price point.
Should You Care? If it was on Wii, maybe.

Spongebob Squarepants: Frantic Fry Cook (DS)
What Is It? I have no idea.
Should You Care? If you need a Spongebob game, I’d suggest the Drawn To Life sequel.
