This Could Be The Uncharted Movie's Female Lead

The bad news is the big-screen "adaptation" of Naughty Dogs' beloved Uncharted series is still underway. The good news? I get to post a picture of Scarlett Johansson, who could be in the running to play Nathan Drake's girl.

We know director David O. Russell wants Mark Wahlberg to star as Nathan Drake, and we know he wants Robert DeNiro to play the role of Drake's father figure in the film. What we didn't know, at least until now, is which actress O. Russell sees filling the shoes of Elena, Drake's love interest in the games.

In a recent interview with Empire, the director boasts about enhancing the character of Elena.

Ah, Elena. I've cultivated her quite a bit and I think I've added a lot of dimension to her so that's all I'm going to say. I love the woman characters and the more robust they are, the more robust the movie.

Oh good, a more robust Elena. Considering he's changing Nathan Drake into the scion of a family of high-powered art dealers, why not a more robust Elena. Why not make her a ninja? I know just the woman for the part. Empire suggests Amy Adams, but another name comes to O. Russell's mind.

Oh I would love that too, I love Amy. I also love Scarlett Johansson; there's a lot of great actors I think might suit. Hopefully, we'll see how it works out with everybody who are being scoped to do that roleā€¦

I'd say that Johansson wouldn't be a good fit for the role, but with so many disparities planned between the movie and the video games, who knows? Just look on the bright side: If this works out, we'll at least have Scarlett Johansson to ogle until the credits roll.

To only add to casting complaints, what about Emily Rose?
For some UNCANNY reason, she sounds and looks just like Elena. Crazy stuff.

Everything I hear about this movie really just shows how much Hollywood screws up these things, there taking what essentially already was a movie and. Changing it for no good reason

Why bother buying the rights to the Uncharted name if you're going to make a completely different movie with it? Just make the movie you wanted to make without pissing all over one of the best gaming franchises of the decade, thanks.

Unfortunately this is pretty much a symptom of Hollywood's current thinking. They're reluctant to make anything that doesn't have a brand name attached to it. But even when it has a brand, they just shove in a script that has nothing to with the existing franchise. We can't win.

While I love Scarlett Johanson a lot *swoons and struggles to snap out of it*, she wouldn't make a good Elena. Emily Rose would've been perfect for it obviously!

      Allow me to swoon along...

DAVID O RUSSELL STOP TALKING AND GO AWAY YOU ARE APPROACHING ZACK SNYDER-LEVELS OF IDIOCY

They've already ruined a potentially good movie by casting Wahlberg and completely changing the story. This is nothing.

David Russel has dropped the ball... big time. And Naughty Dog let him do it.

It's such a shame. The story and characters in the game were solid and the film isn't taking advantage of either of those things. Has David O. Russel even played the games? They're GREAT... not good but GREAT. The characters, settings and story already exist and they WORK! ARGHH!!

I think someone really hates us... :(

Last I heard they were giving drake a welsh accent, Chloe frazer will be a 6 year old Pakistani boy and sully will be the monkey sidekick.

It's going to be shite no matter what. May as well have someone pretty to keep things entertaining. I hope it's a joke about Mark Wahlberg playing Drake. Nothing against the guy, but he's kinda annoying and in crappy films.
They should take a lesson from Clint Eastwoods Gran Torino, and cast a bunch of nobodies who can actually act.

I'm reading what you're saying but all I hear is "WAAAAAAH!!! THEY'RE CHANGING THE MOVIE SO IT ISN'T A CRAPPY INDY RIPOFF AND CAN ACTUALLY STAND ON ITS OWN AS A FILM!!! HOW DARE THEY ACTUALLY TRY TO SALVAGE SOMETHING OUT OF THIS WAAAAAAH!!!"

Enough with the bitching please. Uncharted is a great game but it'd never stand on its own as a film if it was a straight adaptation. It'd just be Indy. So if they're trying to make it more than just an indy ripoff then let them. It's a better attempt than just making a straight adaptation.

Video game movies suck cause of all the unnecessary crappy changes and the lack of talented directors willing to do this. David O'Russell is a talented director and these changes would definitely be necessary to differentiate it from Indiana Jones or tomb Raider.
