Rope Rescue: Call It Cut The Birds, Or Maybe Angry Rope

I saw a Chillingo game at Electronic Arts’ preview event last night that featured colourful, cartoon birds in peril and ropes that could be cut.

It wasn’t a sequel to Cut the Rope or Angry Birds, but it certainly – perhaps accidentally – seems to be riding on the coattails of those two massive iPhone gaming hits.

In Rope Rescue, players string rope around the screen with their finger, wrapping it around pulleys and eventually to the lid of a cage that holds a captive bird. If you do it right, the rope pulls and frees the bird.

As you play, the game becomes increasingly complex, adding fire, rope-cutting knives and extra ropes. It looks like a fun little puzzle title with a lot of character. Some of that character includes the ability to visit all of the birds you rescue in a sanctuary and trying to also locate the occasional butterfly hidden in a level.
