Wanna See More Of Dragon Quest X In Action?

Square Enix’s wildly popular (in Japan) role-playing game series is coming to the Wii and Wii U as Dragon Quest X. Only this one’s an online multiplayer RPG, a decision that’s not sitting well with some Dragon Quest fans. Watch some new footage of DQX right here and judge for yourself.

The above footage — part pre-rendered cinematic, part gameplay — is exclusive to the newly released Dragon Quest Collection for Wii, which packs Dragon Quests I-III on a single disc. Well, it was exclusive up until the point that someone in Japan ripped it and uploaded to NicoNico Douga.

Visually, there are a lot of things I like about the way Dragon Quest X looks. But not being the biggest fan of online role-playing games, questing with strangers and the grind that typically comes with MMOs — not to mention the hesitation of playing anything online via Wii — I’m on the fence.
