It looked for a while there like it was end of the line for the STALKER franchise, as developers GSC Game World were on the brink of going out of business.
That was 2011, though! In 2012, the studio’s Facebook page has just let the world know that “we are continuing work on Stalker 2 after the holidays”.

The zone is about isolation, loneliness, fear, exploration. Meeting random stalkers by campfires. All are part of the wonderful ambiance and atmosphere. Having a sidekick constantly whipping out one-liners each time he gets a headshot on a snork would ruin everything.
And then we’d get the broken-english version of an arrow to the knee meme.
I’ve still to finish SoC. It’s not the game’s fault by any stretch. I had a rather unlucky run in with a few bad HDD’s that cost me my saves on several occasions. I’ve yet to begin my fifth attempt at the game but I still look forward to it. STALKER is a game that has fascinated me since it was first announced. I still remember reading about it in PCPP years ago. It took over a year after that article for it to be released but when it did…oh the joy!
Most intense and captivating shooter I’ve ever played and even to this day the AI still holds up well. So hears to STALKER 2 happening and to me finally finishing SoC and then playing Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat.
This pleases me. I own the other three STALKER games, but have yet to finish any of them. It’s on my to-do list. The news of STALKER 2’s continued production and the hopeful survival of GSC Gameworld is good news indeed! God bless Mother Russia and her game developers.
Yippe! I cant frickin wait. Its been far too long since I stepped foot in the “Zone”!
Oh yeah, I can’t believe I only started playing STALKER this year, but damn is it good…though I haven’t even finished SoC yet (Hard drive crash), but damn, the first time I went into the sewers, killed some mercs, they were kind of strong but not too hard.
I continued on getting more and more freaked out even though I didn’t come across any aliens, then all of a sudden some crazy alien that can turn invisible…fought like hell, killed it, healed up, cleaned my pants ; D
Looked around the next corner and this army patrol spots me, god damn, once I finished those guys off I legged it, I don’t wanna go back to the sewers : /
