In This Urban Jungle, Bears And Gazelles Fight To Survive

Tokyo Jungle is set in a world where humanity has disappeared and the animals of Tokyo battle to find their own niche in the urban environment. The goal of the game is simple: survive.

To play, you pick an animal — anything from a house cat to a T-Rex — and start in front of Shibuya Station. You are then given a set of goals to accomplish within the next 10 minutes (with new challenges being offered every 10 minutes after that). These challenges are random each time you play and range from eating a certain amount of calories to reaching a specific area of the world map. Finishing all the challenges requires a lot of skill and takes a solid hour to complete — just for that one animal. Over that time your animal will hunt, breed, battle bosses and mark its territory. But just remember, if you die, it’s all over and you’ll have to start again from scratch.

Check the video above to see both herbivores and carnivores in action.

Tokyo Jungle was released in Japan on June 7 on the PlayStation 3 and is scheduled for a Western release later this year. Stay tuned for our import preview later this week.
