The Wii U Version Of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 Won’t Come With Elite

Call of Duty Elite will be free when it launches alongside Black Ops II this November, but Wii U players won’t be able to get their hands on it just yet.

Activision told Kotaku today that Call of Duty‘s digital network will not be available on Wii U when BLOPS2 launches for PC and consoles next month.

“We are currently evaluating options for Call of Duty Elite to support Nintendo’s Wii U game system, however Call of Duty Elite for Call of Duty: Black Ops II will not support this platform when the game launches on November 13th,” an Activision representative said in an e-mail to me.

Not a great sign for the Wii U’s online capabilities, which Nintendo has not yet discussed much at all.

  • LOL….who the hell cares about Elite. I’ve preordered Black Ops 2 for Wii U to get on launch night, and I don’t give a toss about Elite!

  • I highly doubt this has anything to do with the Wii U’s online capabilities. PC didn’t get Elite straight away, and it is arguably the best in terms of online. Stop putting the Wii U and Nintendo down, you Kotaku-writer hack-job! 😀

  • I couldn’t care less about Elite… As long as online multiplayer is in there what do I care if I can’t see global rankings and other pointless statistics?
And it doesn’t really say anything about Wii U’s online. The fact it won’t connect to a separate online service doesn’t impact how it might work online.

  • Yeah who cares, I downloaded elite for mw3 and never used it I deleated the file other week to cut down on icons on my xmb, as long as the pro controller feels comfortable and it doesn’t crash all the time to “find new host” I’ll be happy as larry
