   I also like to think of the Big Daddy/Little Sister relationship as an alternate take on Booker/Elizabeth.

   I have a theory.

   SUPER SPOILERS ahoy…

   The post credit scene doesn’t make sense, if Elizabeth did drown Booker and killed the Booker/ Comstock timelines then the scene shouldnt have happened other then the drowning didnt do anything and the scene indicates that Booker is about to enter another timeloop for his 124th attempt to rescue Elizabeth.

   Another thing, that if the drowning was to work then there would have to be some sort of master timeline which kind of goes against the whole “infinite” universes thing.

   Last thing, it doesnt go into detail how Booker spent his time after he gave up Anna, it doesnt say if the Lutece’s bought Booker into the Comstock universe 20 minutes or 20 years after he have gave Anna up, my theory is that they bought him to Columbia soon after the portal closed.

      Regarding the post credit scene, a friend told me that there is a bit where Elizabeth mentions that in 1 timeline you don’t give her away. So if you die in all the others, the only one left is that one.

      And regarding how long Booker spent before going to Columbia, they do mention that as well. Elizabeth says “You shared your regret with this room for 20 years”. Until Booker racks up a huge debt and Lutece offers Booker a way out.

      The drowning only really affects the Comstock timeline. If Elizabeth drowns Comstock then Columbia would’ve never happened and Elizabeth would’ve never gotten her powers and the drowning couldn’t have happened creating a paradox. So all Comstock universes are written out of existence because of the paradox. There’s a scene after Booker loses Anna where they’re in Booker’s office and it’s all dilapidated and Elizabeth mentions how he stayed in that apartment for the next 20 years until Robert Lutece offered him the opportunity to get Anna back.       Thats the timeline/demention where booker decided not to even attend the baptism.

      Second point
      Elizabeth braught him to the pimary line, teh first choice, its not really explainted too well so i give you that point.

      last point
      they brought him into the universe 123 times, the coin flip at the start gives you that, and from memory Elizabeth actually says how long he stayed in that room before the “twins” pull you through, i think she says 20 years…

      But that only means that all of the realities where Comstock exists have been destroyed/changed, and he no longer exists in any form, because he drowned at baptism/birth, meaning whenever he will be baptised in any universe he will drown. This means that in another timeline, Booker can keep Anna, because the Lutece twin never comes to him in exchange for Anna, meaning they can live together.

   Regarding the section where you guys are talking about the after credits bit slash being in Bookers room if you die in the game

   I think that when you die without Elizabeth there to save you, that version of Booker really does die and being in the original room is like the next version of Booker starting out from the beginning. Infinte Bookers. Especially with the Lutece twins when you meet them and flip the coin, it shows 100 odd marks on the heads side. It’s like they have been through that same section every time with a new Booker. Rosalind’s dialog about thinking the outcome may change seems to suggest that the Booker that gets tails, will finally prevail in her mind.

   And as for the after credit sequence, I don’t think that is heaven. I saw it as the part of the branch that kept on going if the Comstock side had been cut off. So killing Booker in the baptism wipes out the Comstock side which leaves non baptism Booker to still meet his wife that would die during childbirth but this time he wouldn’t give away Anna since no Comstock side provoked that option. Of course, he still could be living in debt and alcoholism but I’d like to think it’s possible for him to bounce back and then he and Anna could go to Paris and be happy.
   Oh, and buy a songbird as a pet.

   I like to think I have a firm grasp of the story and since I completed this game last Friday I have been engrossed in discussion relating to the story’s ending and theories, etc, so needless to say I am quite firm in my understanding.

   HOWEVER
   There is 1 thing that still gets me thinking;
   How do we know that the one incident we see Elizabeth(s) drown Booker is the only incident where he was baptised (and born again as Zach comstock)? As Elizabeth explains in the Sea of Doors, there are infinite possibilities for any time line and thus there would/should be more than 1 occasion in this multiverse-thing-a-ma-jig where Booker received the baptism and became Comstock.
   
   I am probably overlooking something so obvious, but I just can’t seem to close this loophole in my head.

      Elizabeth said that they are back where it all started. The first point that caused the branch.
      I just took that as cutting off that branch completely.
      That was the constant and what branched off were the variables. Only one constant can exist of each thing so hitting the root of Comstock should cut it out of all realities.

      The timeline is consistent until the baptism in which at that point it branches out into two timelines. That’s why you see multiple Elizabeths. They’re closing the loops in their universes.

         The interesting thing I found out is that one of them (far left) is the Elizabeth model from the original design of the game. They scrapped that reality for the current one, so it’s kinda meta in a cool way.

      In the context of the game, we do know but at the same time, we don’t. The baptism is supposedly the source of all the timelines you witness in the game. Booker’s decision to either get baptised or not there is the choice that births both Anna/Elizabeth and Comstock. If Booker dies at the baptism, there is no Comstock and the events in the game do not exist. BUT, mutiple universe theory implies that there are an infinite number of other ways for Comstock to be born. Thinking outside the game, a Booker, an Elizabeth and a Comstock all exist in some shape or form under very similar or very different circumstances living their own alternative realities outside the scope of the game.

      It’s an added layer of complexity that I like to think about. Whether or not Levine intended for us to think outside the bounds of the game, I dunno but it’s interesting to ponder.

   Being that there is multiple branches, could it also not mean that instead of them deciding to build Columbia in the sky in one universe they decided it would be a good idea to build Columbia in the sea and thus Rapture was born. Explains how Elizabeth knew how to teleport there she was simply just trying to travel to another Columbia.

   I’m not sure of the timeline of events but there is chicken-and-the-egg moment which I’m curious if it has an explanation:
   The Lutece’s theorize that Comstock became sterile because of exposure to the multiple times/dimensions machine thing, hence he stole Anna (using the time/dimension machine) because he himself in his present state could not have a child.
   But if he wasn’t exposed to times/dimensions then he wouldn’t have needed to steal Anna, and if he didn’t need to steal Anna then he wouldn’t need the time/dimension machine.
   I’m confusing myself and not explaining this well. Here’s hoping someone can understand my point and give an answer and/or explanation.

   (also i feel like I missed a significant moment considering i never died during the game)
