Fine Art: Famous Zelda Artist Returns With New Game

Japanese artist Katsuya Terada is a man whose work you should all be familiar with, mostly because he’s one of the main visionaries behind Zelda’s aesthetic, but also because he worked on Hellboy and Pacific Rim. He’s returning to games this year with Alteil: Horizons.

A card combat game, Alteil: Horizons is actually an all-stars kind of ensemble title, featuring the artwork of not just Terada, but Hitoshi Yoneda (Phantasy Star, Shunya Yamashita (Marvel Bishojo) and SMBC’s Zach Weiner.

Below you’ll find the pieces Terada contributed to the game. The game itself should be announced later today, with a Kickstarter campaign looking to raise the necessary funds. Being a card game, it’ll be playable on PC and mobile platforms. The developers are actually the operators of the original Alteil (a popular Japanese card game) in the US, but are making this sequel on their own.

Fine Art is a celebration of the work of video game artists, showcasing the best of both their professional and personal portfolios.
