Congrats to Tigerion — I thought Friday’s HaiTaku might have been unguessable, but he got it! It was indeed Heart of Darkness. Great job!
Today’s effort comes from Dr Curlytek, who has been a little bit beast at guessing other people’s haikus. Let’s see if he can stump you guys and girls.
As the clock strikes twelve
The battle may seem futile
But winning is key
This is HaiTaku. We write Haikus about old video games and leave it you to guess what game we’re talking about. If you want to submit a Haiku feel free. Send it here!

Kingdom hearts?
Super duper snap!
The clock is ticking
Victory impossible
The Dig all over.
Clockwork Knight?
I think this will be down the wrong track but midnight club?
Street racing is ultimately futile but winning is still key
Soul Blade
Killed Until Dead or Persona 3?
Gahan Wilson’s The Ultimate Haunted House?
Forgot the name of that — friend had it on his computer way back, used to always play.
I thought that too, but that had 13 keys and the clock striking 13.
That’s true, but if you haven’t found many keys and the clock strikes midnight, the game’s pretty much over. So if you’re running low on keys, and the clock strike midnight, the battle may seem futile, but winning is key (literally).
I do like your reasoning 🙂
the 11th hour?
Resident Evil 3
Clockwork Knight on Sega Saturn?
Chrono Trigger?
Persona 4, just because kingdom hearts is taken
Return to Transylvania
No one has it yet, but there are some very reasonable interpretations of my clue!
Resonance of Fate
Final Fantasy 8? I Remember a clock puzzle towards the end
The Witcher?
Catherine?
The Seventh Guest.
If this included Board games I would say Elder Sign…
Midnight Resistance?
Clock strikes twelve = Midnight
The battle may seem futile = Resistance is futile?
Keys played a significant role in the game too by unlocking weapons and powerups.
