“America’s worst insult to Japanese culture since Hiroshima” might be going a bit far, but otherwise Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailer treatment of the abysmal Dragonball Evolution is spot-on.

I guess the idea was to take the basic premise of the manga and anime series and convert them into material that would appeal to a broader audience. Instead, Dragonball Evolution distanced itself from the source material to such an extent that even people who had never been exposed to the series could sense something was off. If you’re going to fail, fail spectacularly.

  • I really wanted to like this, a live action dbz film has always been the stuff of childhood dreams but unfortunately it just messed up and changed things in a way that was just completely irredemabld.

If you do want a live action dbz fix though you should check out these guys: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Vx-E9pzOFPM&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVx-E9pzOFPM they made this theoretical Sayian saga movie trailer and are working on a Freiza Saga one. They are currently doing it all not for profit but are trying to drum up support and get the rights holders attention and show them there is legs for an adaptation that is done properly. The trailer isn’t without its problems, the acting is pretty woeful really, but it does a lot more good than bad and gives me hope at least that one day we may get to see a great dbz movie.
