If you ask me they should have just re-released the amazing 1989 arcade RoboCop arcade game with character sprites from the new movie, but I’ll take a free-to-play mobile shooter from Glu Mobile in a pinch.
It doesn’t look too shabby, as mobile movie tie-ins go. A bit of cover shooting never hurt anyone. Well, except the folks you’re shooting at, but they’re not real so it’s OK. I wonder if we can thank them for not smoking afterwards?
Oh look, we’ve got a features list:
- Shoot your way through console-quality training simulations
- Use drone strikes to take out large groups of enemies
- Save human hostages and capture informants
- Battle aggressive robot enemies from the film, like the EM-208, and the ED-209
- Upgrade your weapons and robotic suit to the latest technology that OmniCorp has to offer
- Scan your targets with body heat vision to find their location and target their weak points
In the end, this is all that really matters. You are RoboCop. Works for me.
The new RoboCop movie drops in February. The game should be out on Android and iOS this week.

Agree that the game could have been a re-skinned version of the arcade classic. I would pay for that.
Damn, shoulda said “Id buy that for a dollar” (Or 0.99c)
Geez enough with all the free games already. I would rather spend 10 bucks on a game and be able to achieve everything (upgrades, suits etc) than have to spend up to 100 bucks and still be mediocre.
Absolutely agree. I kind of feel that F2P games should just open up and give you everything once you spend over say $30. I have been playing marvel puzzle quest on my phone and thought for the first time ever “You know, id actually pay up to around $5 or $10 on this game if it gave me all the things i wanted” Then i looked at how much they are charging for gold coins. You could spend $100 + and still not get close to unlocking everything.
Agree on that one. Too many times have we been lured into playing a game then hitting a paywall for $20, because you cannot defeat that baddie without that extra gear, and all that after having spent 3 hours to get there.
The movie looks like an average videogame
Potentially, a Robocop game could be amazing. It’s basically made to be a video game. Pity we’ll never see that realised.
RoboCop on the original GameBoy is the fuggin’ gas!
