And not only is it available in Australia and New Zealand, it’s available in Australia and New Zealand first, providing us with one of those rare opportunities to rub it in everyone else’s face. We’re horrible people.
“The game is a natural fit for tablets,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment, “we encourage everyone to check it out on their couch, in their backyard, in a coffee shop . . . or anywhere else they take their iPads.”
Australians and New Zealanders can access the game from this link in the app store. An Android version, and a version for Windows Phone users, is apparently in the works.

Great news to read first thing in the morning. Downloading it now
So I’ve installed it and looks like because apple takes 30% cut and so purchasing packs with money costs a lot more
Yeah I noticed that – I don’t think that’s a good move to have price disparity across platforms, it’d be better if they absorbed the cost and kept it consistent.
Do you use the same Blizzard account as on PC?
Buy everything on the PC then play on iPad?
Yeah it uses the same account so you can do that.
I don’t see it when I search the app store from the iPad. Guess I’ll have to wait till tonight to get it sorted.
Yeah it’s not coming up in a search on the ipad, I had to add it to my account through the itunes link above, and then on the ipad download it from the Purchased tab in the AppStore.
found it on blizzards store page in the app store, but couldn’t search it either.
Big day for the iPad. FTL came out today as well!
I will be waiting for the Android version, but i’m surprised it headed mobile so quickly!
Obligatory “Android please” comment.
That being said… I like how the AUS/NZ region seems to be Blizzards test ground.
I finally got around to trying Hearthstone… had fun in the tutorial, then in the “unlock decks vs AI” got my butt handed to me first. I don’t think this is the game for me 🙁
Same thing happened to me, couldn’t win a practice match for the life of me against the AI.
Stick with it though, cause even losing to them gives you progress towards getting the whole ‘basic deck'(ie getting to level 10 for each character). This makes the game a lot better and a little bit easier.
You dont have the powerful cards in the deck. You unlock your class cards when you win a few games. Really addictive game. You will get better the more you play as the tactics are not obvious the first few times you play.
