Indie Steampunk Game Is Basically BioShock Golf

I have played many a golf game in my life. I had never, until yesterday, played one that described itself as “a physics-based first person exploratory mini golf game set in a steampunk alternative universe”.

I’m glad I did.

Despite being early code, available on Steam’s Early Access service, I had a blast with Vertiginous Golf. I mean, it’s a golf game on a superficial level. But there’s so much more going on here.

The first-person perspective (there’s Oculus Rift support) takes a little getting used to, but this is as much a puzzle game as it is a golf game, with obstacles making parts of the game feel more like Portal than Tiger Woods.

Other very non-golf things you can do include adding aftertouch to your shot and even rewinding them.

It’s currently $US15 on Early Access.
