Last night, the publisher Interceptor Entertainment announced a video game called Bombshell. They put up a website and teaser trailer, which you can watch above.

Interceptor Entertainment is the video game publisher that was trying to make a new Duke Nukem game (with original Duke Nukem creator 3D Realms) before getting entangled in lawsuits with Gearbox Software. This is their newest game. It’s out in 2015 for PC and PlayStation 4.

So, I’m curious… what do you think of this trailer? Post all thoughts below.

  • The best part of the entire thing was the bizarre outro with the lady talking about how rockets to the face can be a pain in the neck.

My thoughts: 1) Character model looks last gen and not great overall.

2)The Terminator is strong in this one. There was a niggling suspicion when I saw her cyborg arm. From the moment the bike appears, it’s all downhill on that front. We have the bike, she holsters the gun in the exact same part of the bike from T2. She even has ‘No Fate’ written on her cyborg arm, a detail they take GREAT pains to make known to the viewer. Seems they are trying to ride the coattails of Sarah Conner and Arnie himself here. A huge mistake IMO.

  • New Terminator tie-in with female Terminator? Anyone else notice the “No Fate” written on the bionic hand?

    • I don’t think so. The parallels are a little too gimmicky to be a direct tie-in. I think they just ‘had this great idea’ to make their protagonist a cross between a T800 and Sarah Conner.

  • Just a feeling that the game will be filled with Duke Nukem references and gameplay. If you watch the trailer it mentions “Kickass BubbleGum sales plummet as only customer has “Too much ass to kick””. I hope this doesn’t turn out to be female Duke Nukem.

    • This brings up all the problems in associated films. iRobot, anyone? Will Smith blocks an android with his super strength arm, and they ignore the fact that the rest of his body would have been ripped apart by the stress of the hit.

  • Good : New IP. Female protagonist.

Bad : combat bikini outfit. looks a tad dated.

Verdict : I hope this is gonna be better than I give it credit for, coz any company who makes a new IP deserves good things just for making the effort.

  • Bombshell? Wasn’t that the name of female equal of Duke that was present in early concepts of Duke Nukem Forever?

  • Glorified tech demo for tech that isn’t that great that’s obviously designed by 13 year old terminator fanboys with taste stuck in the mid 90s.

  • This feels like Duke Nukem, and that feels old. But my Nostalgia did kick in where I saw a line in the new broardcast ticker.

Kick-ass bubblegum sales plummet as only customer has “too much ass to kick”

  • Looks like utter shite.
Graphics are dated, character movement is weird, character is a rip off of Yelena from Deus Ex: HR, motorbike with the fire in the background is like something out of Ride To Hell and for fucks sake, give her some clothes.
Was this designed by a 13-year-old boy?

  • “Lawsuits take time, and are often a long, drawn-out process,” they say on the game’s website. “Meanwhile, we wanted to be productive—our creative team couldn’t wait around for the issue to be resolved. Ultimately, we saw it as the opportunity to create our own intellectual property, and Bombshell was born.”

They outright admitted that Duke Nukem is not their IP by saying they created their own IP. So dumb… Duke Nukem is not an IP worth fighting for anymore.

  • The 2010 cinematic trailer for Deus Ex Human Revolution has the protagonist drinking a Jack-esque liquor from a glass, and fracturing it with his cybernetic hand. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq5KWLqUewc ) I’m not sure if that was already pinched from some pop culture I’ve missed – but regardless, this isn’t homage, it’s a travesty.

  • Does anyone else feel like this was the trailer for their Duke Nukem game they were working on, only they switched his model with a female character instead?

  • Well, i’m going to assume it’ll be new fodder for a debate on gender roles and the generalization of 13-year-old boys.
