Fallout: Lonestar isn’t just any old Fallout: New Vegas mod. It might just be the most ambitious, coolest-looking Fallout mod currently in development.
The video above is a development diary with the project lead, Christopher Means. He breaks down what makes Fallout: Lonestar so interesting: the game takes place 50 years before New Vegas, and it takes you down to Texas. Fallout in the south sounds interesting to me, especially given that this is a total-conversion mod — there will be a ton of new assets. The game won’t just look like Fallout: New Vegas, with stuff rearranged a bit. It helps that the game looks like it will have neat enemies, locations, a focus on companions and Chris Avellone, one of the designers on Fallout: New Vegas, seems hyped on the project too.
Currently, there’s no release date on the mod, but there is a lot of pretty concept art to look at. I’ll take it!

Muhwah.
Muhwah.
Meeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrwah.
I just had a stroke.
I would play the hell outta this.
Still no news of fallout 4?
Not until they’re ready to announce something. That’s the word from Pete Hines. The VGX awards next month could possibly see an announcement but I reckon sometime next year we’ll hear something from them. At least he’s saying there’s nothing in development, just that he’s not allowed to talk about it yet
Also, I’m liking the look of this mod
Wish the mod could be applied for the 360. See what you’ve done Bethesda. Now the fans make the games for you. I hope they announce Fallout 4 sometime next year. I want my gamer heroine.
Ditto. Have to set my graphics to potato but I’ll still play this to get my fallout fix.
Want. Looks fantastic. Who needs new games anyway. PC!!!!!
If I were Christopher Means, I’d start every single pitch… hell, every single conversation, with “Hi I’m Christopher Means, and let me tell you, Christopher Means Business.”
I can think of much worse ways to spend my time while I wait for any news about Fallout4.
I’m playing Fallout 3 now and I’m loving every bit of it. I’m looking for Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition but my hunt hasn’t proven fruitful yet. In time for Fallout 4, I’ll be one of those people who’d be anxiously waiting for it.
Fallout 3 is the first true open-world RPG that I really have come to love, somehow I never really got into Morrowind and Oblivion. Maybe after I’m done with Fallout 3, I’ll be more appreciative of Oblivion.
PS: Anyone know perchance how to fix the draw distance on Oblivion? It’s kind of a huge disconnect visibly seeing where the grass and foliage appears, like there’s an invisible field where stuff appears. I max everything out but still no dice.
there are mods for it. The settings in vanilla oblivion don’t go far enough.
Yeah, I actually looked for a mod that enhances the grass but I couldn’t find one. Let me try again… oh, actually I could just edit an .ini file. Guess I’ll be headed to Oblivion after my adventure in Capital Wasteland, thanks!
I am wondering will this mod be based around any fallout lore or storyline?
