15 Minutes Of Project Cars Looking Beautiful On PlayStation 4

Project Cars will no doubt be at its prettiest on PC, but it's also going to look spectacular on both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. When it's released in the middle of May this year it'll no doubt leap to the head of the 'show off your new console/TV' queue.

I don't consider myself much of a fan of racing simulators, but I do love the aesthetics of racing games like this. In short: I really love the car porn even though I don't like cars. I respect the attention to detail of these games, I enjoy the raw commitment to 'realism'. I like looking at the games and saying 'look how far we've come' even though I know it doesn't matter in any real sense.

I also want to play this game. I like being wowed by visuals and this game looks up for the task.

I'm just annoyed my g27 doesn't work on the ps4

My sole reason for not even trying Drive club. will be getting Pcars on PC

I swear this game looks more brilliant everytime I see a video of it, really want to try it out. Still wish they'd add in split-screen multiplayer though...

Split-screen isn't really a thing in racing sims, they're more geared towards LAN and online play, pardon the pun.

Yeah, if it was good enough, I'd pick up a 2nd console. Split-screen racing is still kinda fun though.
If you own both consoles, I wonder which will be the version to get?

Well not to seem biased or anything but I genuinely believe, if you decide to play with a controller, the XBone version will be the one to go for, purely because of trigger feedback.

          Edit: I own a PS4.

But will it look as good up-scaled from 480p and running at 20fps?

Is there any point-to-point racing on Project Cars or is it only circuit? Having played Driveclub, I can't help thinking that the cars in Project Cars look great but the scenery is somewhat lacking.

There are a couple of American highway courses. But it's mostly circuit. It's really game for Simulation/Competition junkies more than your pick up and go entertainment.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Unfortunately I'm a filthy casual when it comes to racing games. Driveclub was the first arcade-type racer that wasn't *too* arcade-y, if you know what I mean. Put me anywhere near GT5 and I quickly reveal my true incompetence :-P

There are point to point but it's mainly circuit tracks. Keep in mind the tracks are near on identical to their real world counterparts, hence the lack of some flashy backdrops at times :-)

Now, the big question... this, Assetto Corsa, or rFactor 2?

Haven't played Assetto Corsa, but it would be interesting to see a comparison.

Assetto Corsa is kind of like if rFactor had Gran Turismo's career options, but focused on a properly realistic handling model.

If you want to run or participate in online races (proper league racing) then Rfactor is a good distance in front. Visuals and car physics I give to Assetto Corsa, both AC and Rf2 are really good for Mods, personally I ONLY use rF1 and rF2 for Online league stuff, for everything else I enjoy AC much more. Interestingly, the best AI for offline racing is without a doubt Raceroom racing experience. It's free 2 play (but you pay for additional tracks and series) so it's worth a try, after you play it you will find all other AI (Forza 5 excluded) to be terrible.

Can't wait to see where Pcars fits into my racing!

I'm just hoping that they actually stick to the date this time and don't announce a delay again.

They seem to be putting out a lot of videos, but they keep pushing back the release date all the time.

damn....that is fine. im buying it! F1 cars! IM BUYING TWO COPIES!

That box art is really terrible

That is genuinely horrible box art. I reckon it will cost them sales.

agreed, if they go with that cover they are insane

Is there a steering wheel setup that works for the PS4 yet?

      Thrustmaster T300RS
      Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari GTE
      Thrustmaster T100 Force Feedback
      Thrustmaster T80
      Thrustmaster TH8RS
      Thrustmaster TH8A
      Thrustmaster T3PA Pedals
      Thrustmaster T500RS
      Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S
      Fanatec Porsche 911 GT2
      Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 v2
      Fanatec CSR (+ Pedals)
      Fanatec CSR Elite (+ Pedals)
      Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Base
      Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Base v2

Thanks! Any recommendations on the best choice?

Expensive business, unfortunately it is pretty much you get what you pay for.

Best: Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Base v2, Fanatec BMW M3 GT2 Rim, Fanatec ClubSport Pedals v2, Fanatec ClubSport Shifter $1887

Mid range 1: Thrustmaster T500RS (good wheel, good pedals) with Thrustmaster TH8A Shifter $963

Mid range 2: Thrustmaster T300RS (good wheel, BAD pedals- consider finding better pedals compatible with the wheel) with Thrustmaster TH8A Shifter $763

Bad: Thrustmaster T80 (BAD and no shifter) $179

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but sim racing is an expensive hobby.

I'm a massive fan of DriveClub.......and I will also buy this the day it comes out. Looks great.
